MAROON 5 OVEREXPOSED WALLPAPERS FULL
The full lineup this year includes over 60 acts, set to perform at Roundhouse over a full month. Other big names to grace the Roundhouse stage in Camden include old-school favorites, as well as a bunch of newcomers - David Guetta, Sam Smith, Blondie, Beck and Kasabian are all on the list of performers. Pharrell will cap off a successful year with a headlining gig at iTunes Festival. Pharrell Williams, Kylie Minogue and Maroon 5 are all a part of this year’s lineup, which was announced Monday, July 21. Ultimately, this is a disappointing release (though certainly not dreadful) and if the previous album was the band's return to the spotlight, this could see that bulb needing to be replaced.Ĭontinue reading: Maroon 5 - V Album ReviewĪpple’s iTunes Festival 2014 isn’t until September, but there are already some awesome performers lined up. The former is an aching break up ballad that remains on the right side of the line to being overblown and will no doubt have live audiences swaying emotionally, while the latter is a pleasant acoustic platform that features a surprisingly wistful vocal turn from Adam Levine. Remembering that they are capable of the excellent 'She Will Be Loved' actually places context that ' Unkiss Me' and bonus track ' Lost Stars' aren't brilliant, but they still stand out here. The rare occasions where 'V' does raise its game - and it must be said in marginal measure - is when the band slows things down. This applies to the majority of tracks - take your pick from ' Animals', ' Sugar' and 'In Your Pocket' for examples - that gives the record difficulty in breaking beyond being full of 'filler' material. Lead single ' Maps' is a case in point, it features a dance floor anthem chorus that will invariably get a crowd moving, but you'd be hard pressed to find the person who asked the club DJ to play it. In isolation, the majority of tracks are ok, but they fail to make a lasting impression - the absence of even one infectious, attention-grabbing hook is astounding.
When they followed it up with the nearly-as-catchy ' Payphone', it seemed like they had truly found their niche, which is what makes 'V' a baffling listen. It's easy to forget that when Maroon 5 first came to prominence around a decade ago they were originally pushed in the alternative rock scene, not the type of slick act who unleashed the ubiquitous ' Moves Like Jagger'. The quintet will support this release with an extensive North American tour in the new year, before crossing the Atlantic for dates that include a trio of shows in the UK. There are no prizes for guessing how many albums Maroon 5 are up to, but this release follows 2012's ' Overexposed' an album that saw a renaissance in the band's career after some assistance from Christina Aguilera and a certain Rolling Stone. ‘Payphone’ was the album’s lead single and peaked at number two, while ‘One More Night’ only lasted a little while at number one.Ĭontinue reading: The Five Best Songs From Maroon 5's 'V' Who wouldn’t want to re-create those numbers?! Maroon 5’s 2012 record, Overexposed, took the band into a brand new pop-heavy realm that relied strictly on those ‘Jagger’ like tunes, but they always fell short. ‘Jagger’ reached number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 and the Mainstream Top 40, with sales that have accumulated over six million units. For the most part, they’ve gotten close, but it just hasn’t been enough. ‘Jagger,’ released in 2011, is far and away Maroon 5’s biggest hit to date, and it’s clear that the group has been trying to find the magic to make an equally successful part two ever since. Maroon 5 released their new album, V, on September 2 He’s been a coach on the singing competition show The Voice for years, and his band Maroon 5 only seems to be getting bigger - but with their new album, V, does it give them the firepower needed in order to create another ‘Moves Like Jagger’? Whether on the television or in your speakerbox, Adam Levine is pretty much everywhere.
